Putuo Mountain


Putuo Mountain, one of the Four Holy Buddhist Mountains, covers an area of 12.5 square kilometers. The highest peak, the Fudingshan Mountain is 300 meters high above the sea level. Temples, monasteries, nunneries are spread all over  the  mountain. According  to  the  annals  of  Putuo Mountain, after the construction of "Unwilling-to-go" Guanyin Temple, people began to build up temples in large scales. The remained ten ancient architecture complex and historical sights were built in Song, Yuan, Ming, Qing. Putuo Mountain once had 82 temples, 128 huts, accommodating 4,000 monk and nuns at its heyday. When you walk on the paths, you probably can come across monks in kasaya. The glorious sceneries as well as the glamour concerned with Buddhism make it a sacred mountain.  

Puji Temple, Fayu Temple, and Huiji Temple are the three largest in the twenty temples in Putuo. Puji Temple, covering 11,000 square meters, was first built in Song Dynasty, and is the main temple devoted to the Goddess of . Fayu Temple was first built in Ming. It sits along the mountain with different layers on it. Numerous large trees stand in the mountain, qualify the temple for a quiet and deep place. Huiji  Temple is on the Foding Peak, so gets a name after that, Foding Peak Temple.

On top of all this, Mount Putuo has some of China's greatest seafood on offer. Sampling fresh seafood dishes has become an indispensible part of any trip to Putuoshan.

  • MoGan Mountain

    MoGan Mountain

    Located in Deqing County of Huzhou City in northeastern Zhejiang Province; Mogan Mountain has been listed as one of the 'Four Best Summer Resorts in China' along with Beidaihe Scenic Spot, Mt. Lushan and Jigong Mountain. Covering an area of 43 sq kilometers (about 10,625 acres) and with an average altitude of 500 meters (1,640 ft), Mogan Mountain is famous for its wild bamboo and dispersed villas of different styles and enthralling legends.
    Villas hidden in the bamboo forest may surprise the visitors. More than two hundreds villas representing different styles, including European, American, Japanese, Russian, give the name 'World Architecture Museum' to Mogan Mountain. Gothic, Barroque or Rococo, northern and southern European, American and traditional Chinese architectures are scattered on the mountain. Most of the villas were built in the last century and were used by many famous people, such as the former leader of CCP Mao Zedong and Zhou Enlai, the former leader of Kuomintang Chiang Kai-shek, the former King of Cambodia Norodom Sihanouk and the former Chairman of Vietnam Ho Chi Minh. Now the previous residences are well preserved and open to visitors.
    It takes about two hours and a half to drive from Shanghai to Mogan Mountain. Winter is a good season to enjoy the Thoreau-style life in Mogan Mountain as the crystal cold air and few visitors contribute to the tranquility. 
    The layout of the hotel follows the geomancy tradition of ancient town in Zhejiang. The courtyard walls are tall and painted in elegant colors: white wall, grey bricks and black tiles.     How to Get There:
    If you are in Hangzhou, you can take a direct coach to Mogan Mountain at the North Bus Station. The journey takes about one hour. If you are in Shanghai, you can take a train to Hangzhou first, or take a coach to Huzhou from the Old North Bus Station or the New Passenger Station. With a total journey time of two to three hours, you can get off at Mogan Mountain Stop.

  • Tongli


    Originally named Fushi, Tongli is an age-old but very well preserved water township with a history of more than 1,000 years. Located on the eastern shore of Taihu Lake, just 18 kilometers (11 miles) from Suzhou City, Tongli town is 63 square kilometers (24 square miles) in area and has a population of over 33 thousand. True to its reputation, Tongli is a really wonderful travel destination where you can spend a marvelous holiday or experience traditional Chinese culture. Follow our guide and you will have a general idea of this captivating water-town. These are the vital links between the different parts of town. Forty-nine stone bridges in a variety of styles join the seven islands created by fifteen rivers and five lakes upon which Tongli stands. Each bridge has a name and these examples will give you an idea of the poetic nature of the inhabitants. Tongli Town deserves its reputation of a 'museum of ancient architectures' as there are good many houses and temples dating from the Ming and Qing Dynasties. Built along the riversides and decorated with flying eaves, carved windows, porcelain furniture, figured clay bricks, dapper gardens and small stairs leading down to the water, these complexes mean Tongli is a shining pearl among the water-towns south of Yangtze River. Tongli is a town with a profound cultural background and achievement. From ancient times, it has been teeming with poets, painters, Confucian scholars and government officials. Their abilities have made great contributions to progress in many areas of the country. Dozens of stone tablets from different periods are preserved in Tongli and many of the streets are named after their official titles. Walking through the alleys of this venerable water town, one cannot fail to appreciate its pristine and intoxicating atmosphere.

  • Suzhou
